THE PROJECT

The Project: In January 2005, The Kings Church Mid-Sussex was formed by the joining of two congregations from Hayward’s Heath and Burgess Hill, with the vision to build a strong, vibrant church that served Mid-Sussex. Following this merger the church had to expand its premises and redevelop an unused, existing 27,000 square foot warehouse next to the churches existing location.

One of the largest parts of this project was to remove and dispose of the existing asbestos roof covering & to install a new steel portal frame, purlins and a new insulated Kingspan Roofing system.

  • In the new building we then went on to construct;
  • A 500 seat auditorium
  • 6 meeting rooms
  • 5 w.c’s & shower rooms with baby changing facilities
  • Administration & reception centre
  • Servery
  • Cafe and general meeting area

We also constructed a first floor plant room to house the new, extensive mechanical and electrical and air conditioning plant to service the new equipment that has been installed throughout the building.

The internal fit-out to the main auditorium included a vaulted ceiling, acoustic sound proofing and under floor heating. Finally we installed new stairs and a lift to service the first floor administration area.

To the external areas of the new building we;

  • Applied a specialist coloured render
  • Installed new windows
  • Laid new paving
  • Fitted security doors
THE RESULT

A complete transformation of a commercial warehouse unit into a multi purpose building which not only benefits the members of the church but also the people of Burgess Hill as there are many local community schemes happening in the church, including debt advice and youth services.

Working with the church, Unique Construction have delivered the project from concept to completion and are proud to have been the principle contractor for such a satisfying and worthwhile project.

THE RESULT

The co-operative working relationship between UNIQUE’s Mark Humphreys and the project manager meant UNIQUE delivered the project within budget to a high standard and safely.
